Various states have expressed differing opinions on whether online gaming should be treated the same as betting and gambling, and discussions will also focus on determining appropriate tax rates to ensure the growth of technology-driven games. The matter was previously referred to a committee of state ministers, which could not reach a consensus and subsequently referred it back to the GST Council for further consideration.
