CBI Launches Probe Into Rs 60 Crore Bribery Allegations Involving Railway Workers And Infrastructure Company
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has unearthed a major bribery scandal involving seven railway employees and Bhartia Infra Projects Ltd., a private company. The investigation was set in motion after the arrest of Santosh Kumar, a senior section engineer of the North East Frontier Railway zone, last February, in connection with a Rs 2-crore bribery case.
Scope of the Investigation
The case pertains to bribery in projects carried out in the North East Frontier Railway zone between 2016 and 2023, totaling a staggering Rs 60 crores. The CBI has labeled this case as the largest of its kind in recent times.
