The Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation (MMRC) has announced that Phase 2A of Metro Line 3, which connects Colaba to Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC), is set to launch by March 2025.

Currently, 98.9% of station-related construction and 93.1% of the overall project work is completed. According to Mumbai Live, the remaining system installations and architectural enhancements will be finalized soon.

The Colaba-BKC metro corridor is expected to significantly ease travel for daily commuters and reduce traffic congestion on Mumbai’s existing metro and road networks.

Following the inauguration, PM Modi took to X (formerly Twitter) to congratulate Mumbaikars, stating:

“Mumbai’s metro system has grown, and residents’ quality of life will improve! Congratulations to Mumbaikars on the opening of the Aarey JVLR to BKC route under the first phase of Mumbai Metro Line 3.”

With the completion of Phase 2A (Colaba to BKC), Mumbai’s metro network will expand further, improving connectivity between key commercial and residential hubs.

Metro Line 3: Stations and Connectivity:

Mumbai Metro Line 3 consists of ten stations, offering direct access to major transit points:

  1. Aarey Colony JVLR
  2. BKC (Bandra-Kurla Complex)
  3. Bandra Colony
  4. Santacruz
  5. Marol Naka
  6. Andheri
  7. SEEPZ
  8. Sahar Road
  9. CSMIA Terminal 2 (T2)
  10. CSMIA Terminal 1 (T1)

The metro line connects both Terminals (T1 & T2) of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport, ensuring seamless transit for air travelers. Additionally, it provides an interchange at Marol Naka with Mumbai Metro Line 1 (Ghatkopar-Andheri-Versova), enhancing city-wide connectivity.
