IIM Ahmedabad Hosts 60th Convocation, Announces First International Campus in Dubai

In a landmark moment for Indian management education, the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (IIMA) held its 60th Convocation ceremony at the historic Louis Kahn Plaza and announced a bold new chapter — the institute’s first international campus in Dubai, set to begin operations in September 2025. This makes IIM Ahmedabad the first Indian Institute of Management to expand globally.
The event was graced by several dignitaries, including Dr. S Somanath, former ISRO Chairman and Chief Guest for the occasion, Mr. Pankaj Patel, Chairperson of the Board of Governors; and Professor Bharat Bhasker, Director of IIMA.
Convocation Ceremony: A Celebration of Excellence

A total of 630 students received degrees, representing diverse management programmes:
- 22 PhD scholars (Doctoral Programme in Management)
- 405 MBA-PGP students (Post Graduate Programme)
- 45 MBA-FABM students (Food and Agribusiness Management)
- 158 MBA-PGPX students (Post Graduate Programme for Executives)
The convocation procession was led by Professor Diptesh Ghosh, Dean (Programmes), and Professor Sandip Chakrabarti, Chairperson of the Doctoral Programme, followed by programme heads, faculty, and students. Families and alumni added to the celebratory atmosphere.
Gold Medalists Recognised for Academic Excellence

Five students were awarded gold medals for their outstanding academic performance:
- Abhi Bansal, Ishaan Jain, and Aanchal Chadha from MBA-PGP
- Yogesh Kumar R from MBA-FABM
- Aashruth Rangarajan from MBA-PGPX
Their accomplishments reflect the academic rigour and high standards upheld by IIMA.

In his address, Mr. Pankaj Patel encouraged students to remain adaptable and future-ready, emphasizing the importance of data-driven decisions, continuous learning, and contributing to India’s growth story.
Chief Guest Dr. S Somanath delivered an inspiring keynote highlighting the qualities needed for long-term success — passion, humility, teamwork, and innovation. He spoke of India’s impending scientific and technological revolution and urged graduates to be solution-oriented change-makers.
“Read widely, work in teams, seek mentors, take risks, and always aim to innovate,” Dr. Somanath advised.
IIMA’s New Milestone: Dubai Campus in 2025

Director Professor Bharat Bhasker made the headline announcement: IIMA will open its first international campus in Dubai, with classes commencing in September 2025. This step marks a historic first among all IIMs, signaling the institute’s growing global footprint and commitment to world-class education.
He also highlighted the creation of the ‘Madan Mohanka Centre of Excellence in Case Method of Learning’, supported by distinguished alumnus Mr. Madan Mohanka, to further enhance IIMA’s pedagogy.
Professor Bhasker reminded graduates that their journey has only begun:
“Your degree is a foundation. Lead with integrity, innovate, and make a meaningful impact.”
