Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin has given his approval for a 4% hike in dearness allowance (DA) for government employees and pensioners in the state. This decision increases the DA from 38% to 42% and comes into effect retrospectively from April 1, 2023. The move is expected to result in an additional expenditure of Rs 2,366.82 crore for the state government.
Additional Expenditure and Future DA Increases
According to an official release, the approved DA hike will lead to an additional expenditure of Rs 2,366.82 crore. The release also stated that the state government will implement future DA increases whenever the Central government announces them.
