On Saturday, three attackers opened fire on mafia-turned-politician Atiq Ahmed and his brother Ashraf Ahmed while they were being taken for a medical check-up in Prayagraj. According to joint city officials, all three attackers fired at the brothers, injuring them and a police officer. A media person was also injured in the attack.
Apprehension of the Attackers The attackers surrendered after firing, and the police have identified and apprehended them. Lavlesh Tiwari, Sunny, and Arun Maurya have been identified as the three attackers who fired at Atiq Ahmed and his brother Ashraf Ahmed.
Previous Incidents and Criminal History This latest attack comes just days after Atiq Ahmed’s son Asad was killed in an encounter with the Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force (UPSTF) in Jhansi. Asad and his accomplice Ghulam were wanted in connection with the Umesh Pal murder case of Prayagraj.
Atiq Ahmed has a history of alleged criminal activities, being a prime accused in the 2005 BSP MLA Raju Pal murder case and the Umesh Pal murder case of this year. His family has been embroiled in several incidents of violence in recent times, and the latest attack is a cause for concern for the authorities.
