In the context of an increase in COVID-19 cases in the region, Emirates has supposedly suspended flights to India. The news came days after England had announced its inclusion in the red list of India. Some 315,000 new COVID-19 cases have been reported in the country yesterday.
The next summer season will be made possible by European airlines. The number of vaccinated persons in Europe has increased steadily after a difficult beginning. In other countries, however, it may be difficult to start the summer if new waves of infections occur.
INDIA BAN ON FLIGHT:
For a period of ten days starting on the Sunday, Emirates shall suspend all flights to and from India. The airline posted the following notification on its website, commenting on this matter.
“The Emirates flights from India to the UAE will be suspended for the next ten days, effective 24 April 2021. In addition, in the last 14 days passengers that have travelled through India will not be allowed to travel to the UAE from any point.”
But it appears that the Emirates are not only affected by the flights. Reports indicate that a Government-level decision has been taken to ban travellers from India, affecting all airlines from India to Dubai. Earlier today, Simple Flying explored the potential impact of such an award, given that India is the largest seat market in the UAE.
The flight suspension of Emirates is currently valid for ten days only. However, as with the airline’s current suspension from flight to South African it can easily be expanded. It was only twelve days before this was first announced. However, the suspension of South Africa’s flight is in force and continues to be extended from 15 January. It is in force until 30 May, as things stand.
ONE ROUTE STOPPED,ANOTHER STARTED AGAIN:
Emirates suspended flights to India, but on the same day announced the restart of another route. The airline is restored from Barcelona to the city of Mexico for the fifth day of freedom on 2 July.
Emirates operates its fifth freedom Boeing 777-200LR flight in Mexico City. It has 38 seats in business and 264 seats in economy. During the flight, also passengers will be transported, Emirates notes that personal protection equipment and vaccines are being transported into Mexico. Meanwhile, it is moving in the other direction avocados, berries, mangos, car parts, and medical supplies.
“We have, to be fair, a number of 777-300ERs that are, as you know, outstanding aircraft that are coming up to the end of their lives. We try to keep them and essentially turn them into freighters, and they are able to handle approximately 90-100 tonnes. An enormous volumetric capability to fit into our network.”
