In the ongoing unrest in Manipur, fresh incidents of firing have been reported in two different places within the state. The situation remains tense as sporadic firing continues.
Intermittent Firing and Locations
According to officials, intermittent firing has been observed in Manipur from two distinct locations. At around 11:45 pm on Tuesday, approximately 15-20 rounds of automatic weapon fire were heard in Thangjing, located in Manipur East. The firing eventually ceased. Additionally, sporadic firing was reported from Geljang and Singda, both falling in the Kangchup area.
Speculative Fire and Assam Rifles’ Response
Officials clarified that between 8 pm and 9:30 pm, 4-5 rounds were fired from Geljan and Singda areas. It was described as speculative fire, not directed at each other. The distance between the two places is approximately 2 km. In response to these incidents, personnel from Assam Rifles were dispatched to both locations to assess if there were any injuries or casualties.
