On April 26th, 2023, Mamukoya, a popular Malayalam actor, died at a private hospital in Kozhikode, Kerala. He was 76 years old and had acted in more than 450 movies over a span of five decades, particularly famous for his comic roles. He collapsed two days before during an event in Malappuram district and was rushed to the hospital, but unfortunately, he could not be saved.
Condolences Pour in from all Quarters

The Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan expressed his condolences and called it a significant loss for the state and the film industry. The Governor of Kerala, Arif Mohammad Khan, the opposition leader VD Satheesan, and many film personalities also condoled his death. He is survived by his wife Subra and four children.
Mamukoya’s Legacy
Mamukoya started his career in theatre and made his debut in the Malayalam film industry in 1979, with the movie “Anyarude Bhoomi.” He popularized the Moppila dialect of Malabar with his unique style and was renowned for his one-liners, rustic look, and toothy grins, which touched a chord with the audience. Mamukoya was considered close to legendary writer Vaikkom Mohammad Basheer and drama doyen K.T. Mohammad.
