Karun Nair Falls to Arora’s LBW as DC’s Chase Struggles in IPL 2025

Karun Nair Falls to Arora’s LBW as DC’s Chase Struggles in IPL 2025

In a pivotal moment of the IPL 2025 match between Delhi Capitals (DC) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), Karun Nair was dismissed LBW for 15 runs off 13 balls, as KKR struck once again to put DC under pressure in their chase of 205 runs.

The Dismissal: Nair Falls to Arora’s Full Delivery

In the 4.3 over, KKR’s Vaibhav Arora appealed strongly for an LBW, and after a brief chat with Ajinkya Rahane, the review was taken. Initially, it seemed like there were two sounds—the first from the bat, hitting the ground, and the second from the ball hitting the pad. The review, however, confirmed that the ball had hit Nair’s pad before hitting the ground.

The replay revealed that Nair’s front foot had reached the fourth stump as Arora’s full delivery spearheaded in, with Nair trying to flick it square. The ball pitched just in front of the crease, and Hawk-Eye confirmed it would have smashed the off-stump, leading to Nair’s dismissal. The decision was a fantastic one, and Nair had to walk back for just 15 runs.

What This Means for DC’s Chase

With Nair’s early departure, DC finds themselves at 43/2, putting more pressure on their middle-order to get the chase back on track. Axar Patel, Tristan Stubbs, and others in the middle will now need to take responsibility and build partnerships if they are to reach the target of 205 runs set by KKR.

Nair’s quick dismissal leaves KL Rahul and Faf du Plessis with a lot to do. If DC is to remain in the contest, they need to steady the ship quickly and not lose another wicket cheaply.
