A woman created a stir in Kaithal’s Guhla area in Haryana when she slapped JJP (Jannayak Janta Party) MLA Ishwar Singh during his visit to flood-affected regions. The incident occurred while Singh was engaging with local residents of Guhla. The woman, reportedly part of a crowd that had gathered after the arrival of the Cheeka constituency MLA, expressed her discontent over the inadequate drainage system, which had led to waterlogging. A police officer present at the scene intervened promptly to prevent any further actions by the woman. The incident was captured on video and circulated widely on social media.
MLA Forgives Woman, Declines Legal Action
In a surprising turn of events, MLA Ishwar Singh later stated that he has forgiven the woman and will not be pursuing any legal action against her. Speaking to the media, Singh expressed his forgiveness, bringing an unexpected end to the altercation.
Persistent Flooding Challenges Haryana
The flood situation in Haryana continues to be severe, with extensive areas of paddy, sugarcane, and vegetable cultivation remaining submerged. As per government data, Punjab and Haryana have witnessed the loss of 18 lives due to rain-related incidents in recent days. To support the affected families, the Chief Minister has announced an ex gratia payment of Rs 4 lakh. Numerous regions in Haryana have been hit hard by the floods, causing significant agricultural losses. According to the Hindustan Times, maize and moong (mung bean) farmers faced substantial difficulties as they were unable to sell their produce in the market due to the high moisture content caused by continuous rainfall. The consequences of the floods are expected to persist for the next two weeks, further exacerbating the challenges faced by the farming community.
