A devastating incident occurred in Hanamkonda district, Telangana, where a six-year-old boy lost his life after being attacked by stray dogs while playing in a park near the Kazipet railway station quarters on Friday morning. The victim, identified as Chotu, succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
Heartbreaking Circumstances Surrounding the Incident
Chotu and his family, who are migrant laborers from Uttar Pradesh, had recently arrived at Kazipet railway station and sought shelter in a nearby park. Tragically, while his parents briefly left him unattended to attend to nature’s call, they returned to find him motionless in a pool of blood. Despite rushing him to a hospital, Chotu had already passed away.
Authorities and Community Respond to the Tragedy

Government Chief Whip Vinay Bhaskar and Mayor Gundu Sudha Rani expressed their condolences and offered support to the grieving parents during their visit to the hospital. Chotu’s body was subsequently transferred to MGM Hospital for a post-mortem examination. Local residents are demanding immediate action from authorities to address the issue of stray dog menace within the Greater Warangal Municipal Corporation (GWMC) limits.
Rise in Similar Attacks Raises Concerns
This incident adds to a series of attacks that have occurred in Telangana over the past four months, resulting in the loss of lives and injuries to several children. One such incident on February 19 involved the mauling of a five-year-old child near his father’s workplace at a housing society in Hyderabad.
Telangana Cabinet Takes Action Amidst Growing Concern
In response to these incidents, the Telangana Cabinet recently scrapped a Government Order (GO) aimed at protecting reservoirs and announced development plans and celebrations. However, the effectiveness of measures implemented by the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) to tackle the issue of stray dogs has been questioned by citizens, emphasizing the need for further action.
