On Saturday, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) produced the first report on allegations of corruption made by ex-Mumbai Police Commissioner Param Bir-Singh. A first report on the former Maharashtra Home Minister, Anil Deshmukh was received. In the case filed in Mumbai, the agency invoked the Corruption Prevention Act and 120B (criminal conspiracy) and raided the residence along with three other places.
The former Minister was summoned for questioning by the testing agency on 14 April, after Param Bir Singh accused him of directing his subordinates to collect money from bars, restaurants and hotels in Mumbai through a letter to Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray.
According to Singh, Deshmukh told police officer Sachin Vaze to take 100 crore a month from these sources, which had been suspended and arrested in connection with the threat of security from Mukesh Ambani.
The CBI also questioned Sanjeev Palande and Kundan Shinde, personal assistants of Anil Deshmukh, Saskatchewan Sachin Vaze, two drivers of former Cop, bar owners, Mumbai Police officers, and the former ministers’ loved ones in connection with the alleged corruption.
All allegations are serious, involving the home minister and policeman. They work closely together until they collapse and they both have a certain position. Doesn’t the CBI test? It is necessary to examine the nature of the allegations and the persons involved,” said the SC bench.
CBI INVESTIGATION:
The CBI investigated the case following a preliminary hearing within 15 days from the High Court of Bombay on 5 April. On 8 April, The Supreme Court ruled 8 that there was “serious” and a central agency testing of allegations levelled against the former Minister.
