In light of the powerful cyclone, the Western Railway has decided to cancel or modify the operations of several trains as a precautionary measure. Seven trains have been canceled, three trains have been short-terminated, and four other services have been short-originated to ensure passenger safety and the smooth functioning of train operations as the cyclone approaches the Gujarat coast.
Preparedness and Relief Measures
In preparation for Cyclone Biparjoy, the Gujarat administration has undertaken several measures to ensure the safety and well-being of residents living near the coast. Over 74,000 people have been relocated as a precautionary measure, and disaster management units have been deployed to handle rescue and relief operations. Finance Minister Niramala Sitharaman chaired a meeting with managing directors of public sector banks and insurance companies to review their preparedness in response to the cyclone.

Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel conducted a review meeting in Gandhinagar to assess the state’s preparedness for Cyclone Biparjoy. Additionally, Daman DC General/Sub DM has issued an order under section 144 of CrPC, prohibiting the movement of people on beaches, promenades, and other coastal areas. These measures aim to ensure public safety and minimize the risks associated with the cyclone.
Impact on Mandvi and Review by Rajasthan Chief Minister
The town of Mandvi has witnessed rough sea conditions and strong winds as the cyclone approaches. In response, Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot held a meeting with officials to review the arrangements made to address the impact of the cyclone in the region.
