In a tragic incident in Chamoli district, Uttarakhand, a transformer explosion has resulted in the death of 15 individuals due to electrocution. The incident occurred on the banks of the Alaknanda River.
Rescue Operations and Injuries
Following the transformer explosion, police personnel and other officials are actively investigating the accident. The incident took place at the site of the Namami Gange project. The injured victims have been swiftly transported to AIIMS Rishikesh via helicopter.
Government Response and Inquiry
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has taken action in response to the incident. He has announced an ex gratia of Rs 5 lakh to the dependents of the deceased and Rs 1 lakh to the injured individuals. Additionally, a magisterial inquiry has been ordered to thoroughly investigate the incident.
Casualties and Ongoing Efforts
Among the casualties, there is a police sub-inspector and five home guards. The rescue operations are currently underway, with the injured being airlifted to AIIMS Rishikesh for immediate medical attention.
