Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA Vidyaratan Bhasin and former minister Bhanupratap Singh, who passed away last month, were honored during the session. As a mark of respect, the Assembly members observed a two-minute silence. Following the tribute, the Speaker adjourned the House for the day. The four-day monsoon session will conclude on July 21.
Tributes Paid by Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel
Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel expressed his homage to departed BJP MLA Vidyaratan Bhasin and former minister Bhanupratap Singh. Vidyaratan Bhasin, a two-term MLA from Vaishali Nagar in Bhilai, passed away on June 22 at a hospital in Raipur after a prolonged illness. The Chief Minister, along with other members including Leader of Opposition Narayan Chandel, former CM Raman Singh, and Minister Mohan Markam, honored the departed leaders and acknowledged their contributions.
Baghel’s Reflections on Vidyaratan Bhasin
Chief Minister Baghel described the death of Vidyaratan Bhasin as an irreparable loss to Durg district and the entire state. He highlighted Bhasin’s humble and soft-spoken nature, emphasizing that he never discriminated against individuals based on their political parties or ideologies. Despite his serious ailment, Bhasin never allowed his health to hinder his public life.
Additional Tribute to Oomen Chandy
BJP MLA Ajay Chandrakar also paid tribute to former Kerala Chief Minister Oomen Chandy, who passed away in Bengaluru on the same day.
