Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge is holding separate meetings with Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot and former Deputy Chief Minister Sachin Pilot in Delhi. The objective is to bring them together on one platform ahead of the assembly elections scheduled for later this year.
Meeting Agenda
Mallikarjun Kharge will meet Ashok Gehlot and Sachin Pilot separately to address their differences and try to find common ground. The meetings are crucial for the Congress party as it aims to strengthen its position and strategize for the upcoming elections.
Pilot’s Ultimatum
Sachin Pilot had previously issued an “ultimatum” to the state government, stating that if his three demands were not met by the end of this month, he would launch a state-wide agitation. One of his demands includes a high-level inquiry into alleged scams that occurred during the tenure of former Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje. Pilot also called for the disbanding and reorganization of the Rajasthan Public Service Commission (RPSC) and financial compensation for affected candidates in the paper leak case.
Kharge’s Approach
Mallikarjun Kharge is likely employing the same model he used in Karnataka, where he successfully brought together Siddaramaiah and D K Shivakumar. By meeting Gehlot and Pilot separately, Kharge aims to bridge the gap between them and unite the party ahead of the crucial assembly elections in Rajasthan.
These meetings hold significant importance for the Congress party as it strives to consolidate its position, resolve internal conflicts, and present a united front to the electorate in Rajasthan.
