Delhi, India – In the midst of the ongoing flood situation in Delhi, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has intensified its attack on the Haryana government over the alleged release of discharged water from the Hathnikund barrage exclusively towards Delhi, neglecting neighboring Uttar Pradesh (UP). Delhi PWD Minister Atishi, in a scathing criticism, accused the Haryana government of diverting all the water from the barrage solely for Delhi and not a single drop being released into the canals directed towards UP and Haryana.
Haryana’s Water Diversion Prompts Concerns
Atishi expressed her concerns during an interview with news agency ANI, emphasizing the need for the Haryana government to answer for their actions. The unilateral diversion of water has raised questions about the fairness and the potential impact on the flood situation in Delhi. With the Yamuna River already overflowing, the release of additional water from the Hathnikund barrage into Delhi has further aggravated the flood risk in the capital.
Deluge Impacts Lives and Infrastructures
The recent heavy rains and subsequent floods have wreaked havoc in Delhi and neighboring regions. Reports of waterlogging, damaged infrastructure, and loss of lives have emerged, highlighting the urgency to address the flood situation. Efforts to repair the Indraprastha embankment and mitigate the waterlogging in affected areas have been undertaken. However, the severity of the situation persists, prompting the need for immediate action.
AAP’s Criticism Raises Political Tensions
The sharp criticism by AAP against the BJP-led Haryana government has added fuel to the political tensions between the two parties. As the flood crisis unfolds, the blame game intensifies, with AAP accusing the ruling party of neglecting the welfare and safety of Delhi residents.
As the situation unfolds, the people of Delhi and the neighboring states hope for swift resolution and effective measures to combat the floods and mitigate their impact on communities and infrastructure.
