Delhi Falls Under High-Seismic Zone IV
Delhi is categorized under Zone IV of the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) Seismic Zonation Map, making it one of India’s most earthquake-prone cities. Over the years, the city has witnessed multiple low-intensity tremors, but experts warn that a stronger quake could be devastating due to the region’s dense population and infrastructure.
Experts advise residents to stay calm, avoid using elevators, and seek cover under sturdy furniture in case of aftershocks.
