I first heard the term “menopause” after seeing Samantha from Sex and the City freak out about it. I quickly switched tabs and went to my information friend Google to quell my curiosity about this ‘M’ Word while she was complaining about her hot flashes. That’s when I realized Menopause is simply the cessation of a woman’s monthly blood cycle, accompanied by a slew of symptoms. Knowing about menopause, like knowing about menstruation, was a bitter pill to swallow.
It dawned on me while reading about the 7 witches of menopause itchy, bitchy, sweaty, sleepy, bloated, forgetful, and psycho that there is no symptom-free process when it comes to our bodies. The more pressing question in my mind was whether or not our women were aware of this condition.Hot flashes, which are sudden feelings of warmth that spread across the upper body and are frequently accompanied by blushing and sweating, are the first sign of menopause. In most women, these flashes can range from mild to severe. Other symptoms include irregular or missed periods, cervix dryness, breast pain, needing to pee more frequently, sleeping difficulties, and emotional shifts. Women can also suffer from hair loss, weight loss, fatigue, depression, and racing hearts.
What are the Three Menopausal Stages? Natural menopause is caused by no medical or surgical treatment. It moves slowly and is divided into three stages. Perimenopause– This stage usually starts several years before menopause, when your ovaries start producing less estrogen. Perimenopause lasts until your ovaries stop producing eggs, at which point you will enter menopause. Estrogen levels drop more rapidly in the last 1 to 2 years of this stage. Many women suffer from menopausal symptoms. Menopause occurs when you have not had a period for a year. Your ovaries have ceased producing eggs and the majority of estrogen.
Menopause is followed by the postmenopausal years. Hot flashes and other menopausal symptoms usually go away after a while. The health risks associated with estrogen deficiency, on the other hand, increase with age. Menopause may appear to be a thief, stealing your mood, sleep, and everything you need to be happy, but there is always a way to get through the difficult times. With a little extra care and effort, we women can juggle everything. So, Ladies, don’t stop hustling.
