New ads have been published during the last week indicating that Facebook is increasing its marketing push for Quest 2 with a renewed focus on fitness and workout capabilities and not just as a gaming device.
AdWeek reports that the campaign began with the National Fitness Day and comprises a variety of physical advertisements on billboards and newspapers in Los Angeles and New York.
One of the most prominent was a full two-time ad in the New York Times Sunday edition, which is shown below. A woman is shown the headline “Why People Didn’t Celebrate National Fitness Day” on a Quest 2.Whilst the body text can not be read in the image at low resolution, it probably explains the advantages of using Quest 2 as a fitness and exercise device.
Facebook To Launch New VR
A number of billboards and physical ads around New York and Los Angeles have backed up the New York Times ad, some of which you will notice below, with the help of AdWeek and Facebook Reality Labs.
The focus seems to be on how to use Quest 2 for workouts that can be more fun and exciting than conventional gymnastics or workouts and how to focus on many things in a small amount of space.
In an AdWeek statement, Oculus global marketing director Dave Kaufman stated that he “was excited about launching the brand’s first fitness campaign and showing people how they can break up the monotony of traditional training using Oculus Quest.” AdWeek says that the next step in the campaign is to launch digital web ads in a similar way.
Fitness has become an unexpected hit in the Facebook Quest ecosystem, with a wealth of apps to continue to work with VR. FitXR, Supernatural and Beat Saber are some of our favourites, but you can see a full list here.
