Biometric or Aadhaar authentication is employed to ensure accurate and fair distribution.

Deadline Extension and Announcement

Initially, the deadline for linking Aadhaar to ration cards was set for June 30. However, the central government has extended the deadline to September 30, 2023. This extension was announced through a gazette notification issued by the Department of Food and Public Distribution on June 15, 2023.

Linking Aadhaar Card Offline

To link your Aadhaar card to your ration card offline, follow these steps:

1. Gather photocopies of your Aadhaar card and the ration card, including those of all family members.
2. Carry a passport-size photograph of the head of the family and submit it at the nearest Public Distribution System (PDS) or ration shop.
3. You may be required to provide fingerprint details for validation against the Aadhaar database.
4. The authorities will process the documents, and you will be notified once the ration card is linked. Required documents may include photocopies of the ration card, Aadhaar cards of all family members, bank passbook copy, and passport-size photos of the family’s head.

Linking Aadhaar Card Online

To link your Aadhaar card to your ration card online, follow these steps:

1. Visit the official website of your state’s Public Distribution System (PDS).
2. Log in to your account on the website.
3. Look for the option to link your Aadhaar card to your ration card.
4. Enter the details of your ration card, Aadhaar card, and registered mobile number.
5. Submit the information.
6. After OTP verification, you will receive an acknowledgment on your registered mobile number.
