Today, two groups clashed in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, over a call to close markets in response to recent controversial remarks made by a BJP spokesperson about Prophet Muhammad. Stone-throwing incidents and clashes ensued after one group objected to another’s call for a shutdown. To disperse the crowd and prevent further violence, police had to use tear gas shells.
Nupur Sharma, a BJP spokesperson, has been charged with at least three counts of insulting the Prophet Mohammed during a recent news debate on the Gyanvapi issue.

The situation is now under control, according to Kanpur Police Commissioner Vijay Singh Meena. According to PTI, 18 people were arrested as a result of the clashes. Me Meena denied reports of gunfire and the use of petrol bombs during the clashes. So far, two people have been injured, according to him.

“On the street, 50-100 young men began chanting slogans. Another group objected, resulting in stone-throwing. Eight to ten police officers were on the scene and attempted to intervene and control the situation. Senior officials, including myself, arrived at the scene ten minutes later. Those attempting to incite violence were dispersed, and 15 to 20 people were detained. We are questioning them, and police are conducting a thorough search of the area. The situation is currently under control. According to current information, two people have been injured “Mr. Meena stated.

Journalists captured footage of opposing mobs throwing rocks at each other from opposite sides of a road during the clashes. Police can be seen firing tear gas at a crowd in another video. A third video showed a group of people viciously assaulting a person until police officers intervened and removed him.

“The accused and conspirators will be charged under the Gangster Act, and their property will be confiscated or demolished,” the officer warned.

Twelve companies of the Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC) have been dispatched to maintain order in the area, according to the police. Senior officials have also been dispatched to the area to monitor the situation.

The clashes occurred while Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Ram Nath Kovind were attending a function 80 kilometers away.

The Samajwadi Party’s Akhilesh Yadav demanded that Nupur Sharma be arrested for disturbing the peace with her statements.

“Despite the presence of the President, Prime Minister, and Chief Minister, the failure of the police and intelligence agencies resulted in BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma disrupting the peace. As a result, she should be arrested “He used Hindi in his tweets.
