One of Chennai Super Kings’ (CSK) key players could be sidelined for the entire Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 season due to injury. According to multiple reports, Deepak Chahar, who CSK signed for a whopping INR 14 crore, may miss the upcoming IPL season due to a hamstring injury suffered in India’s recent game against West Indies. Chahar had only bowled one over in the third T20I against the West Indies, but the right-arm bowling all-rounder pulled up midway through his run-up during his second over.
He had to leave the field and was unable to complete his spell.Initially, it was reported that the 29-year-old would miss the three Twenty20 Internationals against Sri Lanka, but the issue could force him to miss much longer. If Chahar does not play in the upcoming IPL season, it will be a huge blow for defending champions CSK, who paid top dollar to sign the all-rounder. In the run-up to the IPL 2022 mega auction, he had been doing exceptionally well with both the ball and the bat.As many as four franchises bid for his services, but CSK was dead set on keeping their former player. He was the second most expensive player in the recent IPL auction, trailing only Ishan Kishan, but it remains to be seen if he can recover in time to help CSK retain the title.
