Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar has set off a political controversy by declaring that Kanakapura, his native taluk, will be incorporated into the Bengaluru district. During a religious event in Kanakapura, he urged the locals not to sell their land to Bengaluru residents, asserting that Kanakapura rightfully belongs to Bengaluru district.
Kanakapura’s Integration into Bengaluru District
D.K. Shivakumar firmly believes that Kanakapura is an integral part of the Bengaluru district, and he predicts that all villages in the region will eventually become part of Bengaluru.
Deputy CM’s Commitment to the Region
Shivakumar emphasized his commitment to the development of Kanakapura, stating that his role as Deputy Chief Minister primarily concerns Bengaluru but he is dedicated to uplifting his hometown. He expressed his intent to boost property prices and economic opportunities in the region.
Controversy and Opposition
Former Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy, representing the JD-S party, strongly opposed Shivakumar’s announcement. He accused the Deputy CM of pursuing this move to inflate property prices in Kanakapura for personal gain, rather than genuinely benefiting the local population. Kumaraswamy viewed this as a betrayal of the present Ramanagara district, to which Kanakapura currently belongs.
D.K. Shivakumar’s declaration to bring Kanakapura into Bengaluru district has ignited a political dispute, with differing opinions on the motives behind this proposal. As discussions continue, the fate of Kanakapura’s integration into Bengaluru district remains uncertain.
