Kangana Ranaut has relocated to the High Court of Bombay, authorised to renew the passport as it expires on September 15.
Her application, scheduled for hearing on Tuesday, states that Munawar Ali’s FIR on allegedly infectious social media posts is before the court because the Regional Passport Office has objected to the renewal and seeks an order from the court.
Her plea is that orders to renew your passport be directed and ‘confirm that the order of the magistrate and the FIR before the HC will not jeopardise her right to renew your passport.’
In a matter of urgency she had advised a court that her attorney, Rizwan Siddiquee, was unable to renew her on June 13 when she appealed to renew her passport due to the FIR.
She said “had a timetable to travel from 15th June to 30th August 2021 to Budapest, Hungary with the purpose of completing the second film schedule “Dhaakad,” which included Hindi films.
But she can’t travel, but needs to be there to keep her professional obligations, since there are huge investments at stake in production facilities.
Last november the HC granted Ranaut and her sister Rangoli Chandel protection, in interim order, in the case following the quashing of an order of a magistrate in October 2020 and of FIR, which was then registered against their sisters, against all coercive actions and arrests by the Mumbai Police.
