The Election Commission of India has declared the trends for the results of Karnataka Assembly Elections 2023 for all 224 seats. Karnataka witnessed a record turnout of 73.19% in voting on May 10, 2023, to elect representatives to the 224-member Assembly.
Trends for Karnataka Assembly Election Results 2023

According to the trends, the Congress is leading with 119 seats, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) with 72 seats, the Janata Dal (Secular) (JDS) with 25 seats, and others with 8 seats.
Exit Polls
Most exit polls predicted a tight contest between the Congress and the ruling BJP, and the final results seem to be aligned with those predictions.
Leaders’ Electoral Fortunes
The electoral fortunes of top leaders, including Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai of the BJP, Congress heavyweights Siddaramaiah and DK Shivakumar, and JD(S)’ HD Kumaraswamy, among many others, are being determined.
Expectations and Hopes

Leaders of both the Congress and BJP are jittery over the outcome, while the JD(S) appears to be expecting a hung verdict, which would enable it to play a role in government formation. Most pollsters have given an edge to the Congress over the ruling BJP while also indicating the possibility of a hung Assembly in the state.
Karnataka has witnessed a three-cornered contest, with a direct fight between the Congress and BJP in most of the constituencies. The final result could have a significant impact on the upcoming 2024 Lok Sabha elections, and it remains to be seen whether the JD(S) will emerge as a “kingmaker” or a “king” by holding the key to government formation, as it has done in the past.
