The cases of Zika virus in Kerala show a sharp increase in the total number of cases to 28 now. On Thursday the Minister of Health, Veena George, announced 5 more people in Kerala, including 4 women.

Two of these were from Anayara, where a three-kilometer radius of the disease cluster was identified, Health Minister George said on Thursday.
She told me that the other infected individuals who come from East Fort, Kunnukuzhi and Pattom were also tested at Alappuzha’s National Institute of Virology.
Four samples from a private hospital were sent here, while one was collected from the health centre 16 more samples have been tested negatively in the meantime.
“This increased the total number of State infections to 28,” added the Minister.
Yesterday the Ministry of Health said Zika virus acluster is identified within 3 km of Anayara Radius, and measures to eliminate mosquitoes in the region have been taken to prevent its spread to other places.
In response to the outbreak of the Zika in the capital city where all 23 cases were reported, a control room was set up at the district health office.
