The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, and Alappuzha, indicating very heavy rainfall. Other districts remain under a yellow alert, with continued adverse weather conditions expected.

Flooding and EvacuatioN

Severe rains have devastated Kerala, causing flooding and landslides that left four people dead. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for multiple districts, predicting continued heavy rainfall. Authorities are conducting extensive relief operations, with many residents evacuated to relief camps as homes and roads remain submerged.

In Thiruvananthapuram, significant flooding has led to water entering homes, necessitating evacuations. Technopark and other suburban areas are particularly affected, with residents being relocated to relief camps.

Government Response

State officials, including Education Minister V. Sivankutty and Revenue Minister K. Rajan, are actively overseeing relief operations. Multiple relief camps have been established, and rescue operations are underway in the hardest-hit areas.
