The heavy rainfall in Rudraprayag district led to a devastating landslide near Gaurikund, affecting the Kedarnath Yatra route. As a result of the landslide, three shops were damaged, and there are fears that over 10 people may be trapped under the debris.
Rescue Operations
Following the incident, the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) personnel launched relief and rescue operations to search for the missing individuals. However, as of now, none of the missing people have been found.
Missing Individuals
According to reports from the Press Trust of India (PTI), the names of those missing have been identified as Vinod (26), Mulayam (25), Ashu (23), Priyanshu Chamola (18), Ranbir Singh (28), Amar Bohra, his wife Anita Bohra, their daughters Radhika Bohra and Pinki Bohra, and sons Prithvi Bohra (7), Jatil (6), and Vakil (3).
Chief Minister’s Response
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami expressed his concern about the unfortunate incident and assured that the administration is actively engaged in relief and rescue work. He further stated that the government stands fully committed to supporting the disaster victims.
