Kalpika Ganesh Booked After Dessert Dispute Turns Ugly at Hyderabad Nightclub
Actress allegedly abused staff, refused to pay ₹2,200 bill, and damaged property — Prism Pub files police complaint

Hyderabad, June 14: A late-night run-in at a popular city nightclub has landed Telugu actress Kalpika Ganesh in the middle of a police case, after what seems to have started as a small disagreement over a dessert bill took a sharp, chaotic turn. What might’ve been an ordinary exchange quickly escalated — and now it’s headed for court.
It All Started With a Cheesecake
The incident happened on May 29 at Prism Pub, a regular haunt for the city’s late-night crowd. Kalpika, there with a friend, had ordered food and drinks, but the trouble reportedly began when it came time to pay. According to the club’s management, she demanded that a ₹2,200 cheesecake be taken off the bill — calling it a “complimentary gesture” they ought to extend.
Staff say they offered a brownie instead, but the actress refused and insisted on getting the cheesecake for free. When they didn’t comply, things allegedly took an ugly turn. Kalpika is said to have raised her voice, hurled abuses at the staff, and in the heat of the moment, threw a plate, damaging club property.
The club’s managing partner filed a formal complaint with Gachibowli police, who have now registered an FIR. The charges include criminal intimidation and intentional insult among others — under Sections 352 and 504 of the IPC.
FIR Came After Court’s Nod
This wasn’t an open-and-shut case from the start. The FIR was filed only after the police secured permission from a magistrate. That’s standard when the person involved is a public figure, and there’s potential for the case to snowball.
Police have begun collecting CCTV footage, staff statements, and whatever other evidence they can pin down. So far, there’s been no public response from Kalpika or anyone on her team. No arrests have been made either — at least not yet.
Then Came the Instagram Fallout
As if things weren’t messy enough, Kalpika reportedly took the drama online. In now-deleted posts, she allegedly accused the club of overcharging and mistreatment. Screenshots have been doing the rounds since then. The club says her posts were defamatory and hit their reputation hard. Footfall’s dropped, reviews have nosedived, and the management isn’t taking it lightly.
They’ve hinted that a civil defamation suit might follow — depending on how the current investigation pans out.
Silence From Her Side
What’s raising eyebrows is Kalpika’s radio silence. No statement, no clarification — not even a cryptic post. For someone known for speaking her mind on public issues, this quiet approach has surprised quite a few people in the film and media circles.
Those close to her say she may be weighing her legal options before saying anything. Others see it as a sign she may be waiting for things to blow over.
A Bigger Issue Than It Looks?
Incidents like these raise a broader point — where’s the line when it comes to celebrity behaviour in public spaces? Cameras are everywhere. Social media ensures nothing stays quiet for long. And yet, when things go south, the legal system kicks in just the same — no matter how famous you are.
A lawyer familiar with the case put it bluntly: “The law doesn’t care who you are. If you damage property, threaten staff, or dodge bills — you’re answerable, just like anyone else.”
So What Now?
For now, the police are still piecing the case together. More footage, more statements, maybe a counter-complaint — it’s all possible. The real test will come when all sides go on record. Until then, it’s a waiting game.
And all of it — sparked by a slice of cheesecake.
