According to polling averages, only about two percent of Republicans plan to back him, with over half planning to vote for Trump and a fifth expected to support DeSantis. However, Scott’s chances may be stronger than they appear on paper. He enjoys popularity and support in his home state of South Carolina, which plays a vital role in the Republican nominating contest as the third state to cast its ballots. Additionally, Scott has a strong rapport with donors, including Larry Ellison, the co-founder of Oracle, who has been a consistent supporter of Scott.
