NBCC Targets ₹25,000 Crore Revenue by FY29, Boosts Urban Redevelopment Footprint

NBCC (India) Ltd. has revised its revenue target to ₹25,000 crore by FY29, driven by a self-sustaining redevelopment model and new multi-crore government projects across states like Goa, Telangana, and Jammu & Kashmir.

New Delhi, April 16, 2025 – In a significant move underscoring its expansion plans, NBCC (India) Ltd., a Navratna public sector enterprise under the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, has advanced its revenue target of ₹25,000 crore to FY29, one year earlier than previously projected.

The revised goal is underpinned by a successful redevelopment model that has already transformed parts of New Delhi and is now being replicated across multiple states through high-value collaborations.

Redevelopment Model Powers Growth

NBCC’s core growth strategy revolves around its self-financing redevelopment approach — using revenue generated from the sale of commercial space to fund residential and public infrastructure projects.

A prime example is the Delhi project, where the company monetized 3.2 million square feet of commercial space across Nauroji Nagar and Sarojini Nagar, generating ₹14,800 crore in revenue. This capital was then deployed to redevelop seven government colonies, creating a model now being pitched to other Indian states.

“This model is sustainable, efficient, and scalable. We’re engaging with Goa, Telangana, Jammu & Kashmir, and Kerala to replicate its success,” said a senior NBCC official.

Major Projects and State Partnerships

NBCC has recently signed a series of MoUs and project deals that are expected to significantly bolster its revenues and project pipeline:

  • Goa Government Projects: ₹10,000 crore worth of redevelopment work awarded, to be executed without central budgetary support.
  • Discussions Ongoing: With Telangana, Kerala, and J&K governments for similar self-sustaining urban projects.
  • New Infrastructure Assignments: Commercial complexes, judicial buildings, and institutional townships under pipeline consideration.

These developments are expected to contribute 50% of the company’s future revenues by FY29.

Innovative Strategy Gains Nationwide Attention

The NBCC model emphasizes:

  • No budgetary dependence: Revenue is generated through commercial sales.
  • Urban infrastructure transformation: Redesigning dilapidated government infrastructure with modern facilities.
  • Sustainability focus: Projects like Vanijya Bhawan in Delhi received a Five-Star GRIHA rating, acknowledging environmental standards.

Leadership and Industry Recognition

NBCC CMD Shri K.P. Mahadevaswamy was recently elected Chairman of SCOPE (Standing Conference of Public Enterprises), reinforcing NBCC’s leadership position among CPSEs.

The recognition comes amid the company’s increasing role in infrastructure diplomacy, with invitations to undertake project consultancy abroad in the Middle East and Southeast Asia.

Challenges and Opportunities Ahead

While the company is riding high on growth momentum, key challenges remain:

  • Timely completion of multi-state projects
  • Managing state-level political transitions
  • Navigating environmental clearances in urban redevelopment zones

Despite this, NBCC’s structured approach and project management expertise continue to draw interest from both public and private stakeholders.

A National Engine for Urban Transformation

NBCC’s ₹25,000 crore revenue goal signals a strong commitment to reshaping India’s urban landscape. By harnessing its redevelopment expertise, the company is not only transforming public infrastructure but also ensuring a self-sustaining model that doesn’t strain taxpayer resources.

With massive projects already underway and many more on the horizon, NBCC is emerging as a pivotal player in India’s infrastructure narrative for the remainder of the decade.
