Opposition Leaders of the parties including TMC, SP, AAP, RLD, and the Left Party met in the midst of the increased speculation on the possibility of a third front against governing Bharatiya Janata Party at its residence at NCP leader Sharad Pawar, in New Delhi (BJP).
The meeting was attended by former Chancellor Yashwant Sinha and the President of Trinamool Congress (TMC), Ghanshyam Samajwadi Party (SP), Jayant Chaudhary, Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD), Sushil Gupta of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Binoy Viswam of the Indian Communist Party (CPI) and Nilotpal Bassu of the Indian Communist Party of Marxism (CPI-M).
The meeting was also attended by former Chief Minister Farooq Abdullah of the National Conference (NC), former President of the Congress Sanjay Jha and the former leader of Janata Dal, Pavan Verma, and former President of the Kashmir Conference of the NC.
The Judiciary A P Shah, Javed Akhtar, and KC Singh were also prominent people who arrived to Pawar’s residence.
The meeting had not yet taken place. Earlier in the day, a senior leader of the NCP Congress Party said that, although Pawar was hosting the meeting, Sinha, the convenor of the Rashtra Manch, had organised that meeting.
In 2018, Sinha formed the political action group Rashtra Manch, which targeted the policies of the BJP government.
