President Droupadi Murmu embarked on a three-day visit to Jharkhand and visited the Baba Baidyanath temple in Deoghar district. Assisted by a team of priests, she performed special prayers of the 12 ‘jyotirlingas’ at the temple. The President’s visit to the temple was conducted with high security measures.
The Significance of the Prayers
The President’s prayers at the Baba Baidyanath temple hold great significance, as she became the fourth President to offer prayers at the temple while holding the highest constitutional post. The ‘Shodshopachar’ method was used for the worship of Baba Baidyanath, and President Murmu received felicitation from the Temple Shrine Board.
Additional Engagements during the Visit
Apart from her visit to the Baba Baidyanath temple, President Droupadi Murmu also inaugurated the new complex of the Jharkhand High Court during her visit to the state. The High Court campus, built on a vast area at a cost of Rs 550 crore, is one of the largest in the country. The President also attended the second convocation of IIT Ranchi and participated in a program in Khunti.
