India’s explosive middle-order batter Rinku Singh is set to make his return for the fourth T20I against England at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune on January 31. Singh had sustained a low back spasm while fielding during the first match of the series, which ruled him out of the second and third games.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had earlier confirmed that Rinku would miss two matches due to his injury, with Ramandeep Singh named as his replacement. However, in a positive update for Team India, Ryan Ten Doeschate, India’s assistant coach, has confirmed that Rinku is now fit and ready to play.
“Rinku Singh is healthy and will play in the fourth T20I,” said Ten Doeschate.
Key Highlights:
BCCI Medical Team Monitored Rinku’s Progress:

Following his injury in the first game, Rinku Singh was closely monitored by the BCCI medical staff, who ensured his proper recovery. As per BCCI’s official statement, he was making good progress but was ruled out of the second and third matches as a precautionary measure.
India’s team management is now confident that Singh is fully fit and ready to resume his role in the middle order for the crucial fourth match of the five-match series.
Washington Sundar Likely to Be Benched:

With Rinku Singh returning to the squad, all-rounder Washington Sundar might be the player to sit out in the fourth T20I. India already has three spinners in the squad, and Sundar’s impact in the previous two matches was minimal.
Rinku, known for his aggressive finishing skills and explosive batting, will be a key asset for India as they look to strengthen their middle-order firepower against England’s bowling attack. Notably, he did not get a chance to bat in the first T20I before his injury.
India vs England T20I Series So Far:

The ongoing India vs England T20I series has been a closely contested battle, with both teams aiming for dominance ahead of the T20 World Cup 2024. With Rinku Singh back in action, India will look to solidify their lineup and capitalize on his finishing ability.
Rinku Singh’s return is a major boost for India’s T20I squad, as his finishing ability is crucial in the middle order. His comeback could result in Washington Sundar being benched for the fourth match. With the series still open, India will hope for a strong performance to gain the upper hand.
