Officials have confirmed the arrest of Mohammad Ashraf Mir, a militant associate of the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), in Baramulla district of Jammu and Kashmir. Mir, a resident of Laridoora Chandoosa, was apprehended by security forces during a search and cordon operation in Nagbal village. Upon encountering security personnel, Mir attempted to flee but was tactfully apprehended. A grenade was seized from him, and he was taken into custody immediately. The authorities have also verified that Mir is a surrendered terrorist, and a case has been registered against him under the Arms Act and the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act.
Ongoing Investigation and Recent Encounter
Investigation into the case is currently underway to gather more information about Mir’s activities and potential connections. In a separate incident, an encounter between militants and security forces took place in the Anantnag district of Jammu and Kashmir on May 14. These events highlight the continuous efforts of security forces to combat terrorism in the region and maintain law and order.
