In a joint operation, Manipur Police and personnel from the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) destroyed seven illegal bunkers of miscreants at Koutruk hill range on Thursday night. The security forces conducted search operations in vulnerable and fringe areas of the state, leading to the destruction of the bunkers. This action comes amidst the tense situation prevailing in the strife-torn state due to ongoing violence.
1,047 Persons Detained in Connection with Manipur Violence
The Manipur police have detained 1,047 persons from different parts of the state in connection with the ongoing violence. The series of operations by the police aim to address the unrest and maintain peace in the affected regions.
Measures Taken by Security Forces
To prevent the resurgence of clashes between warring communities, the security forces have erected 129 checkpoints in both the Meitei-dominated valley and Kuki-Zo inhabited hill districts. These measures are aimed at combating the illegal activities of different underground outfits in the region.
Recent Incidents and Curfew
On Thursday, clashes between two communities in the Phougakchao area of Bishnupur district resulted in injuries to at least 21 people, including a journalist. In response, security forces used tear gas to control the situation. Curfew was re-imposed in the Imphal West and Imphal East districts following clashes between security forces and locals in Churachandpur district.
Appeal for Calm and Vigilance
The Manipur police have urged the public not to believe in rumors and to be vigilant against fake videos. They have set up a helpline for reporting fake videos and rumor mongering. The overall situation in the strife-torn state remains tense, and the security forces, including the Rapid Action Force (RAF), are closely monitoring all affected areas.
