Siddaramaiah and Shivakumar, the Chief Minister-elect and his deputy, will need to carefully select Karnataka ministers while maintaining a fine balance among various social groups. Contentious Claims and Demands
Several leaders and groups, such as G Parameshwara, Dalits, and Lingayats, are discontented due to being denied the Deputy CM position. The Congress party has garnered support from previously elusive and influential blocks like Lingayats and Vokkaligas. It has also seen success in the ST reserved seats, despite the BJP’s higher reservation promise.
Complex Regional Considerations
Congress has emerged victorious in most regions of Karnataka, except Coastal Karnataka. Lingayats and AHINDA constituents have played a significant role in the party’s success, even in traditional BJP strongholds like Bombay and Central Karnataka. However, the regional dynamics pose a challenge as both the CM and the Deputy CM hail from the Southern Karnataka region, creating a potential imbalance in the ministry.

The composition of the Karnataka Cabinet requires careful consideration of various factors. With a maximum of 33 ministers, including the Chief Minister, the Congress party needs to ensure representation from diverse communities. Leaders such as Laxman Savadi, KH Patil, MB Patil (Lingayat), Priyank Kharge Parameshwara, Mahadevappa, Muniyappa (SC), Ramesh Jarkiholi (Valmiki), RV Deshpande (Brahmin), UT Khader, and Tanveer Sait (Muslim) are among those likely to be included.
