Seven people, including a seven-year-old child, lost their lives when a bus they were traveling in fell into a water canal near Darsi in Andhra Pradesh’s Prakasam district. The accident occurred around midnight while the Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation Bus was en route from Kakinada. Authorities swiftly responded to the incident and initiated a rescue operation, transporting the injured individuals to nearby hospitals for medical treatment.

During the initial investigation, the police discovered that the passengers had rented the bus to attend a wedding ceremony in Kakinada city, Andhra Pradesh. The tragic accident has raised concerns about the safety of public transportation and the need for thorough inquiries into its causes.
Rescue operations underway, cause of the incident yet to be determined
Darsi Sub Inspector Ramakrishna confirmed the deaths of seven people and expressed hope that there would be no further casualties. More than 15 individuals sustained severe injuries and are currently undergoing treatment at Darsi and Ongole hospitals. The cause of the incident is still under investigation, and authorities continue their efforts to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the accident.
Narrow escape in a separate bus incident in Hyderabad
In a separate incident, a Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) bus carrying over 40 passengers narrowly escaped a fire near Pedda Amberpet, close to the Outer Ring Road (ORR) in Hyderabad. Prompt action by a vigilant passenger and the bus driver ensured the safe evacuation of all passengers before the fire engulfed the vehicle. The bus, en route from Hyderabad to Guntur, suffered partial damage due to the incident.
