According to recent reports, Bollywood actor Vicky Kaushal has been cast to play the role of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj in an upcoming film directed by Laxman Utekar. Sambhaji Maharaj was the second ruler of the Maratha kingdom and the eldest son of the legendary Maratha warrior king, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.
The film, which is currently in pre-production, is said to be a historical drama that will explore the life and reign of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, who is considered to be one of the greatest warriors in Indian history. The film will reportedly focus on the challenges and battles that Sambhaji Maharaj faced during his reign, as well as his relationship with his father, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.
Vicky Kaushal, who has previously starred in critically acclaimed films such as “Uri: The Surgical Strike” and “Raazi,” is said to be excited about the opportunity to play such a significant historical figure. The actor has reportedly been preparing for the role by researching the life and times of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, and is said to be deeply committed to bringing the character to life on screen.
This film will be directed by Laxman Utekar who has previously directed critically acclaimed films like “Luka Chuppi” and “Tapaal”.
The film is expected to go on floors later this year and will be produced by Ronnie Screwvala’s production house.
