Former Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag, known for his aggressive style of batting, recently shared a picture on his Instagram handle featuring the bats he used to score memorable innings. Sehwag, considered one of the finest openers in the game, entertained fans with his powerful strokes throughout his career. He also holds a unique record as the only Indian batter to have collected two triple-hundreds in Test cricket.
The Missing Bat and Impressive Scores

In the post, Sehwag mentioned that he had misplaced the bat he used to score 293 runs against Sri Lanka in 2009 at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium. However, he displayed several other bats that played a significant role in his achievements. The caption of the post read, “Bat mein hai dum – 309, 319, 219, 119, 254. Pyaare saathi. Lost 293 waala” (The bat has the power – 309, 319, 219, 119, 254. Dear companions. Lost the one with 293).
Triple Hundred Trailblazer
Virender Sehwag became the first Indian batter to score a triple century in Test matches when he smashed 309 runs against Pakistan in 2004 at the Multan International Cricket Stadium. This historic feat cemented his reputation as a destructive opener. He went on to achieve another remarkable triple hundred against South Africa in 2008, where he amassed an impressive 319 runs in Chennai. This innings remains the highest individual score by an Indian batter in Test cricket.
An Untold Secret and a Promise from Sachin Tendulkar
During an appearance on ‘The Ranveer Show,’ Sehwag revealed that he had a secret reason for wanting to score his third triple hundred. He expressed his reluctance to reveal the reason but shared that he made a request to legendary cricketer Sachin Tendulkar. According to Sehwag, Tendulkar agreed to fulfill any request he made if he managed to reach the milestone. Unfortunately, Sehwag fell short of the record as he got out after scoring 293 runs against Sri Lanka in 2009.
Virender Sehwag’s exceptional batting prowess and his ability to dominate bowlers have etched his name in cricket history. His collection of bats represents the remarkable records he achieved during his illustrious career.
