Bihar Hooch Tragedy: Since Wednesday, at least 16 people have died mysteriously in Bihar’s West Champaran district. Eight people died on Friday in the villages of Deurawa, Jogiya, and Bagahi.
At least five people have been detained by police for questioning, and the matter is being investigated further. The Bihar Police is investigating a hooch tragedy.
“The investigation is currently underway. The officers involved are working on it. The locals are unwilling to discuss it.
“We are keeping a close eye on the situation,” Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Renu Devi told a news agency.
RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav slammed the Nitish Kumar-led Bihar government, remarking sarcastically that thousands of people die each year as a result of bogus liquor “under good governance.”
“Thousands of people die in Bihar each year as a result of shady liquor under good governance.
Under the guise of prohibition, ruling party members in Bihar are running a parallel illegal economy worth Rs 20,000 crores.
In the name of prohibition, lakhs of Dalits and the poor are imprisoned. “Police have become corrupt and tyrannical,” tweeted Lalu Prasad Yadav.
