Washington: The US defence department has stated that it is tracking the Chinese 5B rocket that is out of control this weekend and intends to re-enter Earth’s atmosphere.
Around May 8, the Chinese rocket is expected to enter the atmosphere of Earth and the US Space Command monitors the path of this rocket amid concerns about the impact of its scrap, CNN reported.
“The US Space Command knows and tracks the Chinese Long March 5B’s location in space, but the precise point of entry into the Earth’s atmosphere will not be identified until a few hours after its reentry, which is expected on May 8,” the Pentagon’s US Space Command stated.
“The 18th Space Control Squadron will be offering daily updates to the location of the missile on Space-track.org from 4 May. USSPACECOM will provide further information as available, “it added. It added.
Fox News reported that the object, approximately 100 ft., circles the Earth every 90 minutes and zips past North of New York, Beijing and south as far as New Zealand.
What Report says on Chinese Rocket
The report says that it most likely splash in one of the world’s oceans or a remote area despite the threat.
“I don’t believe that people should take precautions. The risk of damage, or of hitting somebody is quite small—not insignificant, it can happen—but the risk is incredibly small. And so I wouldn’t lose a second sleep on a personal threat, “Jonathan McDowell, an astrophysicist at Harvard University Astrophysics Center, told CNN.
This occurs when several western experts have raised concerns about the underground ambitions behind the construction of the Chinese station and the triggering of a new “space race.”
A new intelligence report from the US Director of National Intelligence on global threats said that China will continue to integrate Chinese space services such as PNT and satellite recognition and positioning and satellite communications into its weapons and control systems to erode the information advantage of US military personnel.
