To mark the 20th release anniversary of the iconic sci-fi film ‘Koi… Mil Gaya’, starring Hrithik Roshan, the makers have announced that the movie will be re-released in select theatres across India on August 4. Directed by Rakesh Roshan, the film originally hit the screens on August 8, 2003, and tells the heartwarming story of a developmentally disabled man named Rohit (Hrithik Roshan) who befriends Jadoo, an extraterrestrial being.
A Journey Down Memory Lane
Rakesh Roshan expressed his hopes that the re-release of the film will take the audiences on a nostalgic trip, as it revisits the journey of the beloved movie that captured hearts two decades ago. The movie will be re-released in PVR INOX screens across 30 cities in India.
A Heartwarming Filmmaking Experience
Sharing his sentiments, Rakesh Roshan, who also produced “Koi… Mil Gaya,” said it feels surreal that the film continues to be loved after all these years. The movie was initially a risky endeavor, introducing sci-fi elements with an alien, but the heartwarming response from the audience became the biggest reward for the filmmaker.
A Family Outing
The re-release is expected to be a joyous family outing, with parents taking their children to cinema halls and introducing the new generation to Jaadoo, the lovable alien, while reminiscing their own memories of watching the film 20 years ago.
A Franchise is Born
The success of “Koi… Mil Gaya” gave rise to a popular superhero franchise, starting with “Krrish” in 2006, followed by “Krrish 3” in 2013. There are also reports of a possible fourth film in the franchise being in the works.
