Several individuals, including Lalit’s brother Bhushan, aide Abhishek Balkawade, close friend and lawyer Pradnya Kamble, business partner Vinay Aranha, policemen on duty at Sassoon, a hospital staffer, and a medical officer at Yerwada jail, have already been arrested for their alleged roles in facilitating Patil’s escape.
Thakur’s Role and Consequences
Dr. Sanjeev Thakur, who held the position of Dean at Sassoon hospital during the escape, is now facing potential prosecution. An inquiry into the incident found negligence on the part of hospital authorities, leading to Thakur’s removal from the dean’s post. The police are now seeking formal approval to pursue legal action against him in connection with the sensational escape.
