Longest Day……….! For those living in the north of Ecuador, 21 June is the longest day of 2021. From a technical point of view, this day is the longest day in the summer. It happens when the sun is directly over the cancer tropic or more specifically over 23.5°N.

This will be happening on Monday at 9:02 am (Indian Standard Time).
Why do we get the solstice of summer? Since the earth rotates on its axis, during a day between March and September, the Northern Hemisphere gets more direct sunlight, which also allows people to experience summer in the northern Hemisphere during that day.
The rest of the year, more sunlight in the Southern Hemisphere. In solstice, the axis of the Earth—which the planet rotates around and completes one turn every day—is tilted in a manner that tips the North Pole towards the sun and is away from it by the South Pole.
This imaginary axis typically runs from top to bottom right across the middle of the Earth and is always sunny at 23.5 degrees centigrade.
The solstice, therefore, as NASA puts it, is the moment when the North Pole points directly to the sun rather than at any other point of the year. Solstice means in Latin “sun stands still.”
A higher amount of energy received from the sun characterises this day. The amount of input energy according to NASA On this day earth received at the North Pole from the Sun is 30% higher than that received on the Equator.
The Northern Hemisphere normally receives the maximum amount of sunlight during this period on 20, 21 or 22 June. The Southern Hemisphere, by contrast, receives most sunlight on 21, 22 or 23 December when it has the longest nights – or the winter solstice in the northern hemisphere.
How long are we going to get sunlight on Monday? The light that a certain area receives during the summer solstice in the northern hemisphere depends on the latitudinal position of the site.
The further north you move from the equator, the lighter the summer solstice will receive. In the Artic Sunrise will be at 5:23 am in New Delhi and sunset at 7:21 pm, with the duration of the day 13:58:01.
Southerly in Mumbai at 6:02 am the sunrise is and sunrise will be at 7:18 pm, the length of the day is at 13:16:20 lower. Sunrise will be at 5:43 am, sunrise at 18:37 pm and the lowest day length in the major urban areas at 12:53:48, even closer to Ecuador in Chennai..
Though June 21 is going to be the largest day in 2021, the latest sunrise or sunset does not necessarily mean that it brings. The location of the country depends on the latitudinal.
