“Indian Army’s Operation Sadbhavana Constructs School For Visually Impaired Children In Assam’s Karbi Anglong”
In a commendable effort to empower visually impaired children in remote areas, the Indian Army’s Gajraj Corps has successfully built a school for them in Assam’s Karbi Anglong district. The initiative is part of the ‘Operation Sadbhavana’ project undertaken by the Indian Army to provide humanitarian assistance to underprivileged villagers, particularly children.
Construction of School Building
The Phase I of the Operation Sadbhavana project was executed in 2021, focusing on constructing the school building specifically designed for visually impaired children. This step aimed to create a conducive learning environment and address the educational needs of the visually impaired children in the region.
Enhancing Functionality of the School
As part of Phase II, the Indian Army constructed an additional building for the school in the present year. This new building includes extra classrooms and an administrative setup to enhance the overall functionality of the school. The completion of Phase II marks a significant milestone in providing improved educational facilities for visually impaired children.
Handing Over to the District Commissioner
The school for visually impaired children was dedicated to the nation and handed over to the District Commissioner of East Karbi Anglong by the Indian Army. The handover ceremony took place in the presence of civil administration and local populace, signifying the collaboration between the Indian Army and the community in this noble endeavor.
Appreciation from the Community
The construction of the much-needed school building received appreciation from the local community. Thousands of people from nearby villages gathered on the occasion to express their gratitude to the Indian Army for their efforts in constructing the school. Village head Babu Bongong and Christopher Prince Fernandes, President of the United International Mission, extended their heartfelt appreciation and acknowledged the Army’s dedication in safeguarding borders and improving the quality of life for the region’s underprivileged and physically challenged children.
