The researchers analysed data from nearly 2000 participants in the Rush Memory and Aging Project (MAP), a longitudinal study of older adults living in the greater Chicago metropolitan region and northeastern Illinois that began in 1997 and is still ongoing today. Participants were given a personality assessment as well as annual cognitive ability assessments.
