A daring heist took place at a cash management firm in Ludhiana, Punjab, where a couple, Mandeep Kaur and Jaswinder Singh, orchestrated the robbery and made off with Rs 8 crore in cash on June 10. However, their successful escape came to an unexpected halt when a packaged fruit juice pack became their downfall. This article explores how the police used this packaging to apprehend the accused couple near Uttarakhand’s Hemkund Sahib.
The Heist
On the night of June 9, approximately 10 armed robbers targeted the cash management agency CMS in Ludhiana’s Rajguru Nagar. They immobilized the two security guards and other staff members by locking them in a room and disabling their mobile phones. Additionally, the robbers cut the wires of the installed sensors before fleeing the scene in a van containing Rs 8.49 crore in cash.
The Couple’s Escape Plan

Following the heist, Mandeep Kaur and Jaswinder Singh had initially planned to escape to Nepal. However, a lookout notice was issued against them, restricting their movement. Consequently, they decided to visit Hemkund Sahib, Kedarnath, and Haridwar as part of their escape plan.
Uncovering the Accused
While the police were aware of the couple’s whereabouts, the challenge lay in identifying them amidst the crowd of devotees at Hemkund Sahib. To address this, the police set up a free drinking kiosk and distributed packets of fruit-flavored drinks to the pilgrims. Unaware of the trap, Mandeep Kaur and Jaswinder Singh approached the kiosk and took their respective packets. As they uncovered their faces to take a sip, the police successfully recognized them.
The Arrest
After patiently waiting for the couple to finish their prayers, the police made their move as Mandeep and Jaswinder exited the shrine. A brief chase ensued, leading to the arrest of the accused couple. The police commissioner, Mandeep Singh Sidhu, reported that Rs 21 lakh was recovered from the couple. As of now, the police have managed to recover nearly Rs 6 crore out of the Rs 8 crore stolen, and a total of nine individuals involved in the heist have been apprehended.
Thanks to an unsuspecting packaged drink, the police were able to bring an end to the audacious Ludhiana heist orchestrated by Mandeep Kaur and Jaswinder Singh. Their attempt to escape justice was foiled, leading to their arrest and the recovery of a significant portion of the stolen cash. Punjab Police Chief Gaurav Yadav proudly announced that the masterminds behind the heist were apprehended within 100 hours of the crime.
